Eddie Izzard Show Announced at the Bardavon on February 16

Posted By on Tue, Dec 11, 2012 at 10:48 AM

Eddie Izzard is coming to the Bardavon in Poughkeepsie on February 16. Lauded as one of the foremost stand-up comedians of his generation, Izzard is known for his Monty Python-inspired stream-of-consciousness style, often working off script to create bizarre, tangential comedic narratives. Trademarks of his style, like verbal tics and brief pauses in his routine, are a result of this free associative process.

In his 2008 solo tour, Stripped, the British comedian performed in 34 cites across the US in five months, including sellout shows at Radio City Music Hall and Madison Square Garden. He also sold out a five week tour in the London's West End in less than 48 hours. His 1998 show Dress to Kill, in which he reflects on his transvestism, earned him a New York Drama Desk Award and two Emmys.

Izzard is also a film, television, and stage actor, with film roles including Valkyrie, Ocean's Twelve, Ocean's Thirteen, and The Avengers, and stage roles including "A Day in the Death of Joe Egg", which landed him a Tony nomination for Best Actor.

Eddie Izzard's self-described "carefully crafted rubbish" comes to the Bardavon in Poughkeepsie on February 16. Tickets go on sale to Bardavon members on December 18 and to the general public on December 21.
