Since it was a little too cold for the pool on Saturday, we went for a car ride to Tannersville to see what it's like there during the summer. We usually take a car ride up to Tannersville after the first snow. It was nice to see the restaurants full. We wanted to find a quiet place to take the kids for a light snack since we weren't that hungry. We stumbled into the Tannersville General Store, which has a welcoming 1960's style counter and serves milkshakes and cherry Cokes. We ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and a cranberry spinach salad. Both dishes were fresh and yummy. There are lots of great retro toys like yo-yo's, toddler puzzles, and nice Catskill-themed gifts and souvenirs too. My husband got a new pair of flip-flops to replace his broken ones, and we were back on the road. We were the only ones eating there around 3pm, but a few couples came in to browse while we were there. If you're in Tannersville, this is a fun place to take the kids for a special treat.
