Mass MoCA FreshGrass Festival Lineup Announced

In June’s annual summer music festival round-up I only briefly mentioned Mass MoCA’s FreshGrass bluegrass/roots festival; the outdoor event, which takes place on the grounds of the Western Massachusetts contemporary arts center September 20-22, was still being booked as Chronogram went to press. Recently, though, Mass MoCA announced the full festival roster—and it’s a stunner.

Among the world-class acts performing are Dr. Ralph Stanley and the Clinch Mountain Boys, the Del McCoury Band, Sam Bush, the Wood Brothers, Dan Zanes and Elizabeth Mitchell, Leftover Salmon, the Gibson Brothers, Edgar Meyer and Mike Marshall, Jerry Douglas, and more. Food, workshops, and pop-up performances are promised as well. And right about now a glimpse of the bluegrass legend himself, Dr. Ralph Stanley, is in order, methinks:
