British singer/songwriter Laura Marling captivated the Bearsville Theater audience on Friday night. I arrived in time for Elijah & The Moon’s last song, which I posted on my YouTube channel. (I was late coming from the First Friday Festivites in Saugerties). Not only does Laura Marling have a smooth soulful voice, but her lyrics about disappointment, heartache, and damaged relationships are sweet, feisty, and poetic. A few of the lyrics went over my head. There is no doubt, Marling is an old-soul at 23 years old. At the end of the opening song, which lasted about 13 minutes, she joked that the song tested the endurance of the audience. I think the opening song was a few songs performed seamlessly back-to-back. Did you go to the Laura Marling concert? Did she hang out after the show to sign CDs? I was too tired to stick around after the show. Now I’ll have to buy her CD ”Once I Was an Eagle” on iTunes.
