Angel Olsen Graces Basilica Hudson

On the heels of this month’s BasilicaSoundScape festival, the cutting-edge multi-arts center Basilica Hudson continues to program excellent events in a variety of mediums that includes film, visual art, spoken word, and dance, as well as music. And as it’s the latter that’s my beat, I figured I’d let know you about one such occurrence that happens this month: a performance by the fast-rising Chicago indie folksinger Angel Olsen.

Raised in St. Louis, Olsen is signed to the hip Jagjaguar label and makes music that’s stark, dark, and heartrendingly powerful. An angel in voice, indeed. Hear so for yourself:

Opening the all-ages show will be experimental Chicago acoustic trio Pillars and Tounges.
