Many women chose to start their own businesses after they have kids. Priorities change once kids are in the picture: As Arlene Deahl, who started her own baking business, says, "After you have the baby, you never want to leave them." Flexibility in the work schedule becomes important. The desire to put in 50-hour weeks, endure long commutes, and climb the corporate ladder lessens.

On this week's podcast, Arlene Deahl of Banana Moon Baking, Marybeth Cale of Cale Commnuications, Denise Summerford Half Moon Theater School of the Arts, Jessica Walsh of Illuminated Baby, and writer and photographer Hillary Harvey, who wrote an article on mompreneurship for our December issue talk about the joys and challenges of simultaneously running a business and raising a family.
