Woodstock Sound Healing Retreats Resonate

Posted By on Thu, Dec 12, 2013 at 9:00 AM

Woodstock’s Sage Center for the Healing Arts has long been a presenter of workshops, lectures, and retreats focusing on the restorative properties of sound. This month the center, which is headed by Phillipe and Lea Garnier, has several related events scheduled.

Among them is “Yoga and Sound Healing,” which takes place on Sunday, December 15 at 5pm. The mixed-level class is $16 per attendee and integrates “three relaxing, yet invigorating styles of yoga and ends with 45 minutes of Sound Healing Intention using crystal and Himalayan singing bowls, voice, gongs, and mantra.” On December 21, the facility will host “Winter Solstice Astrology: Affirmations and Sacred Music,” which draws on meditative dulcimer music and astrology to set the tone for the coming winter solstice. The seminar includes astrological affirmations for each zodiac sign combined with the horoscope chart of the actual winter solstice and will be led by master astrologer, sound healer, and recording artist Marian Tortorella. Suggested donation is $20.

In this video, Phillipe Garnier lays down some healing vibes using tuning forks and other sonic implements:
