Pony in the Pancake Headlines in Hoosick Falls

Perhaps, somewhere back in the swirling mists of your hazy memory, you recall my January 2013 Chronogram profile of local psychedelic metal trio It’s Not Night: It’s Space. Well, recently the band’s guitarist, Kevin Halcott, contacted me with the news of very cool concert he’s organizing next month at the newly opened Gnostic Church of L.V.X. in Hoosick Falls.

Headlining the March 22 event is one of my fave under-the-radar Upstate outfits, Pony in the Pancake, who hail from Troy and play melodic, lo-fi pop that makes me think of the glory days of New Zeland’s Flying Nun record label. Also on the bill, which will benefit the church, is Albany instrumental hard rock quartet Yoma; a third act is TBA at the time of this posting.

Open your ears to Pony in the Pancake’s “All I Do is Cry” right here:

Pony in the Pancake, Yoma, and one other act will perform at the Gnostic Church of L.V.X. in Hoosick Falls on March 22 at 7pm. Admission is $5. For more information, call (845) 430-7305 or visit
