When we think of a free health clinic, what usually comes to mind are doctors in white coats and the usual battery of physical exams and screenings. Not often do we imagine shiatsu massage, craniosacral therapy, and Reiki as part of the mix. But these are among the healing offerings delivered by Health Care Is a Human Right (HCRC), with clinics in Kingston, Phoenicia, and Woodstock.

Founded in 2003 by physician assistant Susan Weeks, HCRC is committed to bringing holistic wellness care to all people, regardless of socio-economic status. To that end, HCHR holds free monthly clinics in Kingston and quarterly clinics in Woodstock and Phoenicia. Practitioners of various modalities - from acupuncture and Feldenkrais to energy psychology and reflexology - donate their time in an effort to make the benefits of holistic healthcare more widely known and available. A team of volunteers works diligently to run and maintain this program, which operates under the auspices of Family of Woodstock.

Ongoing clinics in Kingston, held at the Kirkland, take place the second Thursday of every month. Clinics are offered quarterly in Phoenicia (at Parish Hall on Main St) and in Woodstock (at the Community Center on Rock City Rd). Walk-ins are welcome, and are the only option in Kingston and Phoenicia. In Woodstock, you can call for an appointment starting two weeks before the clinic (845-679-2485).

The next clinic dates are:
Phoenicia - Wed., Jun. 4, 2014, 4-7pm
Kingston - Thurs., Jun. 12, 2014, 4-7 pm
Woodstock - Sat., Aug. 2, 2014, 4-7 pm
