It’s beyond sad that in an era in which we’ve come so far socially the scourge of violence against women persists around the world, and right here in the Hudson Valley. We all look forward to a week where we can turn on the news or open the paper without learning of some horrific case involving female abuse. Shining a light on this shadowy dilemma and raising funds for long-time local social advocacy organization Family of Woodstock together are the impetus for “Ladies of the Valley,” a concert starring some of the Hudson Valley’s best-known women singers and songwriters at the Bearsville Theater on November 9.

The show will benefit Family of Woodstock’s Crisis Hotline and Walk-In Center and will feature Simi Stone, Elizabeth Mitchell, Amy Helm, Sarah Fimm, Pal Shazar, Lindsey Webster, Donna Lewis, and Lisa Green, all backed by Connor Kennedy and Minstrel. Joining the ticket will be some rising young women from the Paul Green Rock Academy and several surprise guests.

“Ladies of the Valley” will take place at the Bearsville Theater in Bearsville on November 9 at 6pm. Tickets are $25-$75. For more information, call (845) 679-4406 or visit www.bearsvilletheater.com.
