The secluded and stunningly landscaped Shanti Mandir ashram in Walden is calling all Yogis, aspiring or experienced, for a celebration of International Yoga Day. On June 20, start the day with a Yogic spin on the walkathon by sponsoring, supporting, or participating in 108 sun salutations. Funds raised will support the charitable work run by Shanti Mandir and the new projects budding up at the ashram. After giving the sun its due salutations, a vegetarian lunch will be offered—with many of the ingredients freshly picked from the onsite organic garden.

Aspiring Yogis will have the opportunity to learn about the physical and psychical benefits of yoga with “What is Yoga?,” a presentation by master teachers from Australia. Other teachers will host small afternoon sessions on the lawn, open to anyone. The ashram invites any drop-in yoga instructors to join the gathering and lead their own session.

At the end of the day, the teachers will come together to impart their cumulative experience and answer any questions about yoga. Shanti Mandir encourages the facilitation of learning about yoga and creating a mindful yogic community.

Shanti Mandir Ashram is located at 51 Muktananda Marg, Walden.

When an artist limits his palate to a few colors, the self-imposed restrictions can create new possibilities. Habits are broken, a new approach grown.
