Live opera in the cavernous, industrial space of Basilica Hudson? An amazing an idea, for sure. And so it will transpire this Saturday and Sunday, when the former-foundry-turned-arts-center stages “The Enchanted Pomegranate,” a self-described “storytelling concert” presented by New York opera-training organization Il Cuore Canta.

Promising music “from Monteverdi to Handel,” the concerts will feature four singers—sopranos Valentina Fleer, Alexis Rodda, and Angela Dinkelman, and tenor Jordan Pitts—in a program in which “Enchanted pomegranates weave their magic, intoxicating the senses, igniting love, soothing rancor, healing injury, and reuniting sundered hearts.”

Listen to Alexis Roddis in this 2014 performance:

“The Enchanted Pomegranate” will be presented at Basilica Hudson in Hudson, New York, on June 20 at 7:30pm and June 21 at 2pm. Tickets are $20 ($15 for students). For more information, call (518) 822-1050 or visit
