A series of free local events will offer support to Alzheimer's caregivers during November, which is National Alzheimer's Awareness Month and National Family Caregivers Month.

In Hyde Park, the Alzheimer's Association of the Hudson Valley is offering a three-part education program for middle-stage Alzheimer's caregivers on three consecutive Mondays (3-5pm): November 9, 16, and 23. At each two-hour session, participants will hear caregivers and professionals discuss helpful strategies to provide safe, effective, and comfortable care to patients who have moved out of the early stages of disease and now need hands-on care from a partner or family member. Topics will range from daily strategies to legal and financial decisions, and planning for the future.

In White Plains, the Annual Alzheimer's Research Seminar, also open to family caregivers (as well as medical and other professionals), will take place on Thursday, November 12 (9am-12pm). Co-presented by the Alzheimer's Disease Assistance Center of the Hudson Valley and the Alzheimer's Association of the Hudson Valley, the seminar will present the latest scientific thinking on Alzheimer's disease.

For reservations and more information about the Hyde Park and White Plains events, call 800-272-3900.
