  • Albany Pro Musica

Formed in 1981, Albany Pro Musica is one of America’s premier choral groups. The ensemble, whose size ranges from 65 to 125 depending on the works being performed, regularly appears on NPR and has shared the stage with Judy Collins, Andrea Bocelli, and Kenny Rogers. This Sunday, the group will present the world premiere of a program titled “A City of Immigrants” at Troy Savings Bank Music Hall.

Part of Albany Pro Musica’s current concert series, “A City of Immigrants” includes music from many of the cultures that have influenced our region, including Dutch, German, English, Italian, Pole, African-American, Irish, and Hispanic styles. The concert is part of a three-week series that features art exhibits, guest speakers and movie presentations (see website for details) and will include the world premiere of a work commissioned exclusively for the event and written by APM’s composer-in-residence, Steve Murray.

Here’s the group performing in 2014:

Albany Pro Musica will present “A City of Immigrants” at Troy Savings Bank Music Hall in Troy, New York, on April 3 at 4pm. Tickets are $25 and $35 ($15 students, phone only). For more information, call (518) 438—6548 or visit http://www.albanypromusica.org/.
