To perform in honor of its 10th anniversary, the Bard College Conservatory of Music has certainly lined up a winner. On September 11 the college’s Richard B. Fisher Center for the Performing Arts will present the great pianist Jeremy Denk in a program tracing seven centuries of popular music—“from Bach to Schubert and the Beatles to Ligeti.”

One of America’s leading pianists, Denk is the recipient of a 2013 MacArthur “Genius” Fellowship and numerous other awards and has appeared with top orchestras in the US and Europe and as a soloist at some of the world’s most exalted concert halls. His 2013 recording of Bach’s Goldberg Variations hit number one on the Billboard Classical Chart and his tours with violinist Joshua Bell have been rabidly received. In addition to being a musician of staggering virtuosity, Denk is a highly accomplished writer whose work has been featured in the New Yorker, the New Republic, The Guardian, and the New York Times Book Review. His blog, Think Denk, was recently selected for inclusion in the Library of Congress’s web archives.

Here’s Denk on NPR’s “A Prairie Home Companion” last year:

Jeremy Denk will perform on September 11 at 3pm in the Sosnoff Theater of the Richard B. Fisher Center of the Performing Arts at Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson. Tickets are $30 to $50. For more information, call (845) 758-7900 or visit http://fishercenter.bard.edu/.
