Singer-songwriter Sylvia Tyson is one of folk’s all-time icons, a figure whose influence continues to loom large in the music today; violinist Scarlet Rivera burst on the scene in the 1970s as a stand-out member of Bob Dylan’s Rolling Thunder Revue. And on September 24, the two legends will perform together at Woodstock’s Kleinert/James Center for the Arts.

Canada's Sylvia Tyson rose to fame in the early 1960s as one half Ian & Sylvia, the beloved duo she formed with her former husband Ian Tyson. The pair waxed the much-covered originals “You Were on My Mind” (which Sylvia composed) and “Four Strong Winds” and were managed by Albert Grossman, the Bearsville raconteur and handler of Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, The Band, and others; Grossman also managed the Tysons’ subsequent outfit, Great Speckled Bird. In addition to touring with Dylan, the Chicago-born Rivera performs on his 1975 album Desire and has worked with Tracy Chapman, David Johansen, the Indigo Girls, and many more.

Sylvia Tyson and Scarlet Rivera will appear at the Kleinert/James Center for the Arts in Woodstock, New York, on September 24 at 7:30pm. Tickets are $25 ($22 for Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild members). For more information, call (845) 679-2079 or visit http://www.woodstockguild.org/.
