Chronogram Children

Welcome to Chronogram Children, the most comprehensive children’s section in the Hudson Valley! We’ve assembled a passel of the area’s best writers and children’s experts and asked them to meditate on their various domains of knowledge for us. This month, Susan Avery, of Ariel Books, reviews three outstanding children’s books, including Mark Helprin’s A City in Winter; Steve Larsen, renown author and director of the Stone Mountain Counseling Center explains the benefits of bio-feedback therapy on ADD-ADHD affected children in "Mending the Mind of Childhood"; and Margaret Hartford, founder of the Academy School, ruminates on the effect of brand-name advertising in children’s clothing in "Hats Off to Humanity." Don’t forget about our calendar either! This month in the Valley there’s art classes for kids, children’s theatre, opera, music and ballet for kids, instrument making, mask making, puppeteers, storytelling, and that’s not even including events for the whole family like guided hikes, backyard maple sugaring, and earth celebrations. So much to do! So when the kid’s scream, "I’m bored," tell ‘em to go find the copy of Chronogram that’s fallen behind the sofa and see what’s happening, becuase the Hudson Valley is a great place for kids!
