Another Tuesday, another area music festival—that I just didn’t have the space for in my yearly round-up of summer fests—to let you know about.

The Berkshire Choral Festival, which takes place from mid July through early August in Sheffield, Massachusetts, has been ongoing for over 30 years.…

Indie rock band Wilco hosts their third annual Solid Sound arts and music festival—a three-day event from June 21 to 23 at MASS MoCA that engages all five senses. The North Adams, MA, festival allows concert-goers a unique sample of Wilco's own taste in music, as they handpick every band featured over the weekend.…

Buying local, organic food is an ideal for many, but it's not always practical. Higher quality foods often mean higher prices, and a single specialty market might not offer as wide of a selection as a major supermarket.…

Greg Frederick discusses his Vinyl Pop Art series, which is on display at Orphic Gallery through June.
            by Chronogram Staff
Greg Frederick, a Brooklyn based artist whose portrait of Amy Winehouse is featured as Chronogram's June Parting Shot, recently joined the show to discuss his collection of portraits, mostly of iconic musicians, fashioned out of fragments of vinyl from LPs and 45s, paper sleeves and all. Frederick, an avid music fan, started his Vinyl Pop Art series about three years ago.…

Self-described “spiritual psych” band NYMPH is something to behold. The Brooklyn group’s heavily hypnotic, wildly psychedelic head stew imbibes deeply from the trance-like ritual sounds of the ancient, indigenous music of Africa, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia.…

It is typical for the Women's Studio Workshop in Rosendale to receive requests for their artists' hand-bound books from esteemed institutions in the United States as well as from around the world. However, their most recent sale may be the most noteworthy yet: In May the workshop sold the works of over 200 artists to the Library of Congress, our national research library, for $52,000.…

Somehow there’s just never enough room in Chronogram’s annual summer music festival spread to give ink to all the worthy warm-weather performance events happening in the area. Besides the space confines of the magazine and the need to change it up with what we cover, it increasingly seems there are dozens of new festivals popping up every year—but of course that all makes for a good problem for local music lovers to have.…
