Joseph Dalton contributes regularly to local and national publications, including the Albany Times Union, the Advocate, Time Out New York, and American Record Guide, as well as the websites NewMusicBox.org and MusicalAmerica.com. In 2004 he received the ASCAP Deems Taylor Award for Music Journalism and, the following year, first place for arts writing from the New York State Associated Press. Prior to relocating to the Capital Region, Joseph worked in the classical recording industry, including 10 years as director of the American music label Composers Recordings, Inc., in New York City.
William Doiron is currently a senior English major at Siena College, where he has focused on writing short fiction and poetry. A semester abroad in Greece opened Bill to the pleasures of travel; his dream is to view, record, and express through the written word the wonders the world has to offer. He plans to take a year off after graduation, and to eventually pursue either a doctorate in English or a law degree. As Chronogram’s editorial intern, Bill has had the opportunity to be inspired and influenced by “local luminaries” such as Estelle Kessler Yarinsky, whose art he writes about this month.
Michael Fallarino is a builder and extensively published interdisciplinary journalist. His passions include designing and fabricating beautifully crafted interiors, researching human health, thinking and rethinking, learning and unlearning, and writing about it all, so he can discover what he really believes. Originally trained as a teacher at the University at Albany, Mike also has an MA in psychology and holds certificates in East Indian medicine and herbalism. When all the facets of his character align into an optimal firing order, everybody around him laughs.
Nina Shengold is books editor of Chronogram’s Hudson Valley edition. Her profiles of John Ashbery, T.C. Boyle, Edwidge Danticat, Lydia Davis, Mary Gaitskill, and others have appeared in Chronogram and Poets & Writers. Her novel Clearcut was a BookSense featured selection and won a 2005 Henry Miller Award from nerve.com. Nina has edited 11 theater anthologies for Vintage and Viking Penguin, and won a Writers Guild Award for her teleplay “Labor of Love,” starring Marcia Gay Harden. She lives in Stone Ridge with her daughter, Maya, an idiosyncratic golden retriever named Chris, and too many books.
