Millbrook’s summer jazz concert series features local talent, food and wine…the perfect combination! If you are looking for an enjoyable way to spend your Saturday evenings this summer, look no further than your favorite local winery. This summer’s lineup features the following:

July 23 - Blue in Green Jazz Quartet
August 6 - Larry Ham & Friends
August 13 - Greg Lofaro Jazz Quartet
August 20 - Dangling Success
August 27 – Bottoms Up Dixieland Jazz Band

The concerts are open-air, and take place on Millbrook’s beautiful grounds. Be sure to bring your picnic blanket and chairs. Come early and set up your chairs and blankets as seating is on a first come basis. Visit the Vineyard Grille to order one of their many Jazz Night Specials prepared by Slammin’ Salmon Restaurant and pick up your chilled bottle of Millbrook wine. Wine is also available by the glass. The Tasting Room will be open for business during showtime, but the last winery tour of the day is at 4:30. All shows are 5:30pm to 7:30pm. Admission is $12.50 per person or $10 for Winery Club Members.

The amazing Jazz in the Valley Festival is Sunday, August 21st, on the Hudson River in Poughkeepsie. This year’s swinging line-up includes the world-class musicians Randy Weston, Randy Brecker, Javon Jackson, Jimmy Cobb, and Charenee Wade and Craig Harris. Hear Chico Alvarez with the Palmonte Afro-Cuban Big Band.

Enjoy terrific music with the Hudson River and Catskill Mountains as the backdrop starting at noon. The scene unfolds at 1 North Water Street in Poughkeepsie. This is a rain or shine event! Don’t bring glass bottles or alcohol. Get an early bird discount until August 1st of $40. General admission is $50, $60 at the gate. Students are $20. Call 845-384-6350 or go online.

The fun doesn’t stop there! Fireball Run selected Dutchess County as a featured destination in the series’ 10th Anniversary Season. Fireball Run tells the story of 40 teams as they compete in a legendary 2,000-mile, life-sized trivia game. To win, contestants compete in an epic quest for America’s under-discovered places and historic artifacts, while aiding in a massive awareness campaign, The Race to Recover America’s Missing Children.

The live competition is from September 23 to October 1. Spectators are welcomed to meet the celebrity teams and take pictures with exotic vehicles when they stay overnight in Beacon on September 28th. Visit www.FireballRun.com to learn more.
