Pin It

Poem: August, 1977

At daybreak, the air thick,
heavy with mourning doves
and the crescendo buzz of locusts;
clammy sheets twisted out of tuck,
hair sweat-plastered to skin,
random strands dancing
in a box-fan breeze.
