Poem: Stars and Blood

I am more of stars
than meat

And yet
I smell of blood
more than stars.

We live in the land of meat
and yet
present our faces,
our curious eyes upturned,
to the light of stars

to adore and be adored.
We love each other—
we, the far light, and
they, the warm smell of blood.
