Poem: The Alley Cat

eating
a can of tuna
near my feet

bolts
under the bumper
of my car

as i
reach down
to scratch
behind his ears

two eyes
lit up like a
lake of fire

adjudicating me
in the
moonlight.

you

and every woman
in this town
lately

my friend.
