Riverkeeper’s 20th Shad Festival and Hudson River Celebration | Visual Art | Hudson Valley | Chronogram Magazine

DATE:  May 16, 2010 - 12pm – 5pm

LOCATION:  Boscobel House & Gardens, Garrison, NY

Join hosts Mary Richardson Kennedy and Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., Veronica and Mike Richter and hundreds of eco-interested Riverkeeper supporters on May 16, 2010 at Boscobel House & Gardens in Garrison, NY  for Riverkeeper's 20th Shad Festival and Hudson River Celebration.  This all day festival takes place on the banks of the Hudson River and provides the perfect opportunity for friends and family to enjoy a day in the majestic Hudson Highlands celebrating the resource Riverkeeper works to protect. The American Shad is a historic fish of the Hudson River that over time has seen a great decline in their numbers.  This event is a celebration of this great fish, but also a call to educate, protect and to once again see them flourish.

Tickets are all inclusive and allow you to: Enjoy a Whole Foods Market picnic, craft beers from Fire Island Beer & Captain Lawrence, limited-production handmade wines from Oriel, live music from Uncle Wade, Evan Watson and the Other Corner Jug Band, and the all-access Kids’ Lawn & Tent.

The Whole Foods Kids Tent and Kids Lawn will be the highlight of the day for kids of all ages!  Featuring entertainment from Jonathan the Storyteller, Bindlestick Bill, Janetta Betz Theatre and Andante Music plus the Animal Alley petting zoo, eco-arts & crafts tent, nature hikes with Wildman Steve Brill and tree climbing by the river!  Come and ride the merry-go-round, made from recycled products and powered by the sun.  The kids can get their face painted; make a rainmaker, an organic rag doll, clay sculptures, fish mobiles and many other activities.

Enjoy the newest and best in wellness and eco-friendly living on “Green Street.”
