Rock, Rattle, & Drum Pow Wow | Festivals | Hudson Valley | Chronogram Magazine

For the past eight years, Healing Winds has hosted its Rock, Rattle, and Drum Pow Wow, an event modeled after traditional American Indian celebrations of music, dance, and song. The Berkshires nonprofit will host its ninth annual pow wow August 9 and 10. This year's event will feature American Indians of all ages performing fancy, traditional, grass, and jungle dress dances under the leadership of champion Head Man and Head Lady dancers Uri Ridgeway and Cory Jackson. Visitors can also enjoy beautiful feather fans by artist Patrick Scott, as well as the return of world-famous violinist and Native American flutist Arvel Bird. Also offering traditional crafts, storytelling, and food, the pow wow will run 10am to 8pm on Saturday and 10am to 6pm on Sunday, on the Adams, Agricultural Fairgrounds, MA.
