Tim Hecker | Music | Hudson Valley | Chronogram Magazine
September 28. Montreal’s Tim Hecker is one of today’s leading figures in ambient and experimental electronic music. Described by the New York Times as “foreboding, abstract pieces in which static and sub-bass rumbles open up around slow-moving notes and chords, like fissures in the Earth waiting to swallow them whole,” Hecker’s recent music uses samples of prepared piano, organ, string synthesizer, and other instruments. This performance in EMPAC’s Concert Hall will utilize a site-specific, multiple-speaker arrangement designed by Hecker himself. (Bang on a Can’s Michael Gordon hits September 15; guitarist Ronni Le Tekro performs for dance company Ella Fiskum Danz’s “Triptych0811” September 18.) 8pm. $18, $13. Troy. (518) 276-3921; Empac.rpi.edu.
