When The Hammer Falls | Poetry | Hudson Valley | Chronogram Magazine

when the hammer falls

and all my life smithereens and beauty betrays a pussing boil

and splits the knee thigh to calve and trust tossed

and heart heaves to throat and retch and hope hits the exit running

and retch and retch and retch and weeping fills the hall

and no ever respite

and fall and failed only bedfellows then the nail sets
