untitled,
Marcy B. Freedman, Polaroid collage, 14" x 13", 2001

Artist and art historian Marcy B. Freedman is a teacher, curator, lecturer, who exhibits her works in a variety of media. Visitors to Freedman’s Peekskill studio—it’s open to the public by appointment—can view abstract collages, appropriation art, and a great variety of photographic works. Additionally, Freedman has been collaborating with Gene Panczenko, an audio-visual specialist, to create short video pieces that are often characterized by humor and poignancy. Freedman and Panczenko’s work was on display this past month, along with Freedman’s Polaroid collage works, at the Barrett House Art Center in Poughkeepsie in a show entitled “Very Short Stories.”

This spring, Freedman will present a lecture entitled “Video as Art” at the Croton Free Library in Croton-on-Hudson. Her talk will provide viewers with a chance to see clips from works by many video pioneers, as well as samples from her own work in this exciting new medium. For further details about the talk or to arrange a studio tour, call (914) 271-5891 for details.
