GRASS DANCERS, CATSKILL MOUNTAINS, NY, LAUREN PIPERNO, POLAROID NEGATIVE/SILVER GELATIN PRINT, 2002 “Living History: American Pop Culture and the Performer,” a photographic exhibition featuring black-and-white and color prints by Lauren Piperno, will be on display at the Coffey Gallery in Kingston from November 1 through December 2. “Living History” is a continued investigation by Kingston-based artist Piperno into America’s nostalgia for bygone eras, exemplified by sacred Powwow gatherings, colonial reenactments, ballroom dancers, and nightclub cigarette girls.
