On the Cover: Dowser
March 18, 2009
Brooklyn-based painter and illustrator Jordin Isip’s mixed-media images have appeared in numerous periodicals including Adbusters, the Atlantic Monthly, Juxtapoz, the New York Times, Rolling Stone, as well as on book covers, posters, t-shirts, records, and CDs. Recent projects included creating a book cover for Simone Felice’s Goodbye, Amelia. Isip has exhibited throughout the United States and his work has appeared in galleries in Rome and Paris. In April, Isip will be part of a group show at the Riviera gallery in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The cover image, Dowser, was created specifically for Isip’s June show at the La Luz de Jesus gallery in Los Angeles. The Philadelphia City Paper has described Isip’s totemic, elongated figures as leaving the viewer “aching for them to say what went wrong, and what can make it right.”
