Dmitri Kasterine has been a portrait photographer for 40 years. His portrait of the late Patricia Highsmith, author of The Talented Mr. Ripley, was made in Highsmith's home outside Paris. Based in New York City and Poughkeepsie, Kasterine works for publications including the New York Times, Vanity Fair, Vogue, and Interview. A photography instructor at Vassar College, Kasterine is holding a series of "soothing" photographic workshops in Beacon this summer. His latest project, eight years' worth of portraits of the people of Newburgh, is currently being shown at Candace Perich Gallery in Katonah.
