Chronogram in the News
April 15, 2009From the July 16 edition of the Poughkeepsie Journal page 2A, under the header "Getting It Right":
A restaurant review that appeared in the Enjoy! Entertainment guide on Friday, June 25, had several paragraphs giving background information that appear to be nearly identical to information in another review by Harold Jacobs that was published in the January 2004 edition of the [sic] Chronogram, a regional monthly magazine based in New Paltz. The freelancer who wrote the Journal review, Lori Pierce Abendschein. Said that she did not copy the paragraphs from the Jacobs article and said she would never deliberately do so. Journal editors, after reviewing the language in both articles, decided to end their free-lance agreement with Abendschein.
Here at Chronogram, we call that plagiarism.
