My husband and I enjoyed a delicious Sunday dinner at Fred's Place, a restaurant in Lake Katrine off of Route 299. If you travel between Woodstock and Kingston a lot, you have probably passed it a million times. The decor in the dining room is rather simple, but elegant. Sunday night is Pasta Night at Fred's, and for $11.99 you get your choice of pasta (which includes gluten-free or whole wheat options), four toppings, sauce of your choice, and a dessert. For just $13.99 you get a soup and salad with it too. (Note: they also have this pasta special on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4-6pm.)

I decided on the pasta dinner: gluten-free fettuccine with broccoli, spinach, garlic, and mushrooms with marinara sauce. Tom started with the Italian egg roll, and ordered the stuffed chicken breast with spinach and four cheeses served with a roasted garlic cheddar cream sauce over a roasted vegetable risotto for his main entree. My entree came with the soup of the day, which was a turkey chili. It had a bit of a sweet honey kick to it. It was good! My pasta dish was very hearty, and I love the old-fashioned way of grating the cheese in front of the customer.

Luckily I was smart enough to only eat half of my pasta, and take the rest home. I had room for dessert! Our server told us that the owner, Fred's son Christopher Waldona, is a graduate from the Culinary Institute of America, and makes all the bakeries and desserts in house. I went a little cuckoo taking photos of the dessert case. For dessert I ordered the crème brûlée, and Tom had the apple tart. All in all it was a wonderful dinner, and the service was very friendly and efficient.
