At the Spotty Dog Books and Ale, Nat Baldwin of acclaimed indie band Dirty Projectors has clearly found a welcoming home away from his native Brooklyn; the bassist makes a repeat return to the Hudson bar/bookstore/music venue on January 9.

In addition to his work with Dirty Projectors, Baldwin has performed on albums by Grizzly Bear, Vampire Weekend, and Department of Eagles. In between touring and recording with Dirty Projectors, he made time to record his 2011 album People Changes (Western Vinyl Records), an album that led Pitchfork to declare, “Whether Baldwin is singing with his throat or his bow, there’s a thrilling feeling of freedom to it all.” At the Spotty Dog date, the double bassist/ singer-songwriter will play songs from 2008's Most Valuable Player (Broken Sparrow Records), as well as music form the new Dome Branches: The MVP Demos (Western Vinyl), which features the original demos from the former release.

This video captures Baldwin playing under a bridge somewhere in Brooklyn:

Nat Baldwin will perform at the Spotty Dog Books and Ale in Hudson on January 9 at 8pm. Otto Hauser will open. Admission is $7. For more information, call (518) 671-6006 or visit http://www.thespottydog.com/blog/.
