The Women's Studio Workshop (WSW) introduces a public art installation along the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail in Rosendale by internationally acclaimed artist Pat Oleszko. The Would/Lands: A Walk on the Wild Side is presented to the public on Sunday October 5 at 4 pm, followed by a reception held at WSW.

A series of vibrant costumed characters are presented along side live music to unveil 13 human-sized figures installed along the Rail Trail. These "color-fool" creations will be standing on top of the hills, implanted on the side of the mountain, and wrapped around the trees to provide a delightful and strange discovery for unknowing passerby's. Over the next two months these figures will continue to change along with the landscape.

The installation performance will initiate a series of projects throughout the year as part of a nationwide effort to help artists and communities build identity and economy. It is one of only two projects that New York State received federal funding for.

Oleszko's projects present a unique opportunity to collaborate with the community and cultivate discovery in a public place. Originally from Detroit, Oleszko began studying sculpture at the University of Michigan at Ann Harbor in the 1960s. Now a mixed media performance artist her site-specific work addresses social, political, environmental, and global issues.
