It’s nice to check in with Unison Arts Center and see that the long-time, not-for-profit performance venue/exhibition space/arts organization is still going strong. This Saturday, Unison is presenting a performance by the young keyboardist and composer Kristin Hoffmann and flutist Premik Russell Tubbs.

Hoffmann, who has shared stages with such big names as the Wallflowers, Feist, and Brandi Carlile, is also the singer for Bella Gaia, “an internationally touring audiovisual experience created in conjunction with NASA.” Fittingly, then, that her latest solo project is the soundtrack for Amazing Space, a mediation aid movie combining music and images of space, that was “inspired by a once-in-a-lifetime view of the night sky that filmmaker Ralph Stevens witnessed on an expedition to the Andes Mountains.”

Here’s a trailer featuring stunning visual and Hoffmann’s ambient sound work:

Kristin Hoffmann and Premik Russell Tubbs will perform at Unison Arts Center in New Paltz, New York, on June 6 at 8pm. Tickets are $18 in advance ($14 for Unison members) and $20 at the door ($16 for members). Students are half price with a valid ID. For more information, call (845) 255-1559 or visit http://unisonarts.org/.
