If you’ve ever found yourself forced to tear away a tiny enthusiast from a model train display, then you might want to bring that little engineer over to the Kingston Model Train & Railroad Hobby Show on Sunday, March 20th, where you can devote the day to it.

The show will feature 11,000 square feet of operating train layouts, dealer and vendor tables, and model train exhibits. The Lego© cities built by Matt Savatgy and his 13-year-old son have been growing each year, and are up to 80,000 pieces and counting. Within the city are all sorts of characters and animals, so grab a scavenger hunt list and spot Star Wars people and superheros. In the Children’s Fun Corner, there are free balloons and kid-friendly activities, like Thomas® the Tank Engine sets to play. “There is no other show quite like this anywhere in or near Ulster County,” says event promoter Nick Savatgy, “featuring all manner of model trains and railroad hobby items.” There will be people from local working historic railroads and rail museums to meet. Don’t miss the toy train raffle!

The Kingston Model Train and Railroad Hobby Show at the Andy Murphy Midtown Recreation Center, 467 Broadway in Kingston: Sunday, March 20 from 10am – 4pm; $6 for adults, and just $1 for kids under 12; food vendors will be there. Bring a non-perishable food item for $1. off your paid admission. Donated items will be collected for the Caring Hands Soup Kitchen which serves hot breakfast and lunch every weekday (except holidays) at the Clinton Avenue United Methodist Church, 122 Clinton Avenue in midtown Kingston.
