New York band the Slackers led the U.S. third wave ska underground in the 1990s and have been skankin’ ever since, spreading their fusion of roots Jamaican sounds, jazz, punk, soul, and other styles to venues around the globe. On June 11, the group brings that blend to BSP to headline a tight triple bill of solid ska.

Many fans consider the Slackers’ 1996 debut, Better Late Than Never, to be their best album. But their 14th and most recent long-player, this year’s The Radio, has gotten high marks as well.

Check out this clip of the band’s version of the Bob Dylan/Band classic “I Shall Be Released”:

The Slackers will perform with the Big Takeover and Los Thujones at BSP in Kingston on June 11 at 7:30pm. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. For more information, call (845) 481-5158 or visit http://bspkingston.com/.
