As cooler temperatures prevail, now is the time to enjoy the outdoors without the oppressive heat of the day. In fact, many visitors spend their weekends at Storm King Art Center in the Hudson Valley taking in art and nature in equal measures, making the 500-acre sculpture park a hot spot to soak up the cool air Saturdays and Sundays.

Storm King Art Center is located in the picturesque Hudson Valley region, west of the Hudson, approximately one hour north of New York City.

Avoid the crowds by visiting Storm King in October on Mondays between 10am and 5:30pm, as well as every other day of the week except Tuesday. Plan a weekend trip to the Hudson Valley, and save the best for last with a Storm King visit on your way home.

The 2016 special exhibitions will remain at Storm King until November, so there’s still time to see Outlooks: Josephine Halvorson. Halvorson’s piece, Measures, features three site-specific works in the form of large-scale painted wood rulers. Also on view, Dennis Oppenheim: Terrestrial Studio, offers visitors a visual feast with works consisting of industrial materials juxtaposed against the backdrop of nature. Both exhibitions close November 13th.

Admission for adults is $15, senior citizens (65 or older with valid ID) are $12, ages 5-18 and students (with valid ID) are $8, and children 4 & under and members are free. Interested in free admission next season, too? Become a Storm King Member. Find out more at Stormking.org.

The Storm King Art Center is a museum without walls that merges the outdoors and the art world. And, with children's programming, events, and a family-friendly vibe, they provide ample reasons to explore. Now the only problem is deciding which programs to hit without just moving in there!
