Artist, textile designer, and illustrator Emily Isabella brings her whimsically colorful work to Brunette Wine Bar in Kingston. The event, taking place November 5, is the opening for an exhibition titled “Chairs: New Works by Emily Isabella.”

Emily’s illustrations combine quirky content (like an elephant balancing on a bicycle, flowers with cat heads instead of petals, or an uneven row of neatly drawn square houses against a tan backdrop) with pastel hues, forming a type of modern folk print with a dainty flair. Her work and collaborations have appeared in a series of stores and publications, including Kate Spade, Anthropologie, Birch Fabric, Savannah College of Art and Design president and co-founder Paula Wallce’s memoir The Bee and the Acorn, and the Netherlands's Flow Magazine.

Her exhibit at Brunette will feature paintings showcasing a subject that combines her love for textiles with painting—chairs. Not to sit on, but to view and enjoy, her oil paintings “The Met; Didn’t Sit On” and “Fancy With You” will be onsite at Brunette.
