Southern-born Lera Lynn is part of the newer generation of country artists that, thankfully, take their cues from classic country and alternative rock, rather than catering to the dreaded “The Voice”/“American Idol”/monster-truck demographic. On June 24, she’ll bring a bit of her torchy, noirish sound to Club Helsinki when she performs there with John Paul White of the Civil Wars.

The 32-year-old Lynn is an actor as well as a singer-songwriter. After creating music for the second season of HBO’s “True Detective,” she was cast as a recurring character who performs the songs in a dive bar frequented by the main characters.

Here she is in one such scene:

Lera Lynn and John Paul White will perform at Club Helsinki in Hudson, New York, on June 24 at 9pm. Tickets are $25 and $35. For more information, call (518) 828-4800 or visit http://www.helsinkihudson.com/.
