On the heels of the Bearsville Bluegrass Festival in May, the Bearsville Folk Festival debuts Sunday, July 2, with three folk bands playing rockabilly, cowboy tunes, and foot-stomping music at the Bearsville Center's sylvan spot, Bearsville Park.
Doors open at noon, and music begins at 1pm with Lara Hope and the Gold Hope Duo—Ameripolitan Award-winning artist Lara Hope teams up with her husband, Matt "The Knife" Goldpaugh for rockabilly, rhythm & blues, country, folk, and a pinch of humor.
At 2:35pm, Jenna Nicolls and John Ladeau take the stage with their lush, nostalgic cowboy tunes, soul, and original ballads. Nicholls has performed worldwide, including at the Beacon Theater in New York City and at Carnegie Hall; Ladeau's recent album, Time Capsules, has been positively reviewed throughout the worlds of Americana and folk.
Hey Bub entertains from 4:10-5:30pm. The musical duo of Lily Bergstein and Christian Joao brings their love of “old-time” music to audiences across the Hudson Valley, linking multi-generational communities who love their foot-stomping, joyful music.
In addition to the music, the festival includes artisan barbeque and handcrafted drinks and cocktails. So stretch out on an outdoor sofa at the park while enjoying the tunes, take part in lawn games, or take a walk down a music and nature trail.
Bearsville Theater encourages, promotes, and develops the Valley’s tradition of singer-songwriters and small acoustic bands in partnership with Folkadelic Inc., a new community music store opening in July alongside Cafe Espresso at 59 Tinker Street in Woodstock. Owner Kenneth Chico will offer personal customer service, carrying acoustic instruments including guitars, mandolins, banjos, and ukuleles along with providing accessories, repairs, and general advice.
The Bearsville Folk Festival will take place Sunday, July 2, at Bearsville Park from 1-6pm. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children 16 and under, and $25 for families of two adults and two children. Buy tickets here.
