Lovers of craft and design, rejoice! Field+Supply’s Fall MRKT is making a much-anticipated return to Hutton Brickyards, where its 2019 celebration of all things artisan-made drew about 9,000 visitors to peruse, purchase, and play on the Kingston waterfront.
Naturally, this year’s event will look just a little different, says Fair Director Erin Mahan. “We had 225 vendors in 2019 and this year we have 185, just so we could space things out a little,” she says. “And we’re selling tickets for dedicated four-hour windows of time alongside the all-day pass option, to keep the flow of the event smooth.”
Smooth is absolutely the word for the riverside design extravaganza. The chic, modern interpretation of a traditional arts and crafts market began in 2014 and today brings together a carefully curated selection of vendors from all over the country for one of the region’s most beloved fall events.
“We look for independent makers with an emphasis on excellence in craft or the design process—people doing cool stuff,” says Mahan. “We love fresh, innovative ideas, like Paper Project, who use a paper-based yarn so finely woven it’s as workable as linen.”
From high-end furniture and home decor to apothecary wares, ceramics, clothing, jewelry, and small-batch food and beverage makers, the three-day event promises to be a veritable showcase of one-of-a-kind creators.
Along with the diverse array of vendors’ wares to browse, attendees can look forward to enjoying the sounds of nine live bands throughout the weekend and feasting on gourmet fare from Oyster Party, Sante Fe, Rosie’s Empanadas, and Nancy’s Artisanal Creamery.
“We’re excited to be back and to have some fun,” says Mahan. “Our makers are small independent brands who rely on markets, and it’s been a tough year or so for sure. I think celebration will definitely be in the air.”
The Field+Supply Fall MRKT will take place at the Hutton Brickyards in Kingston October 8, 9, and 10 from 10am-6pm. Capacity for the market will be limited and advance tickets are recommended.
