Voice. In poetry, voice is elemental and elusive. It is not confined to one definition, and is a topic often contested amongst writers. Voice can be heard, read, or even felt, an ever-shifting medium. This weekend-long seminar at the Garrison Institute will feature Pulitzer Prize winner Gregory Pardlo and poet, essayist, and Bob Dylan biographer Robert Polito as instructors on the variety of ways to think about voice. Attendees will read and discuss poems, listen to a variety of music, and craft their own poetry. Award-winning vocalist and choreographer Meredith Monk will also perform on Saturday evening. December 16 through the 18. Including room and board, cost varies from $380 to $510. (845) 424-4800; Garrisoninstitute.org.
