The 76-acre riverfront industrial property has struggled to find its identity, trying a range of events on for size from Smorgasburg, which lasted two seasons, to Hutton Fare, which lasted one time, to Field & Supply. But one event that everyone agrees was a roaring success was Bob Dylan's sold-out two-night run in June 2017.
Fans old and young gathered under the pavilion at the Brickyards, in kayaks along the shore, and on boats mid-river to listen to the voice of a generation belt out classics.
After the success of the shows, it became clear that the waterfront site had a future as an outdoor concert venue. As part of its huge renovation, Hutton Brickyards added five dressing rooms for performing artists, a production office for event producers, and a catering prep kitchen. Hoping to attract more world-class musicians to the 3,500-capacity space, the Brickyards has partnered with Bardavon for its 2019 concert series.
Drumroll Please....
Yesterday, Bardavon announced the first concert of the year at Hutton Brickyards: Indie folk outfit Lord Huron will headline a show at the Brickyards in Kingston on Thursday, July 18, with special guest Bully. After alt-folk allstars like Mumford & Sons, Bon Iver, and Fleet Foxes paved the way in the late aughts, the LA-based band Lord Huron garnered mainstream success in 2014 with the release of their lush, Western-inspired second album, Strange Trails. Evoking wide-open vistas and the spirit of travel, their music brings together an expansive and dynamic blend of folk, rock, pop, and threads of Americana.
Special guest Bully is a four-piece rock band started in Nashville and led by Alicia Bognanno, the guitarist, singer, producer, and engineer. With messy long blonde hair, a fuck-off attitude, and a howl that can bring down the house, she is a punk icon in the making. "The coarse Cobain head-scream of...Alicia Bognanno is its own resuscitating jolt of protest," Pitchfork writes.
General admission tickets are $39-$49. Bardavon member pre-sale starts February 7 at 11am, and General Public sale starts on February 8 at 11am. Buy tickets »
