Mayfest Farmers and Makers Market May 20-21 | Sponsored | General Arts & Culture | Hudson Valley | Chronogram Magazine

Sampling all the goodness created in the Hudson Valley would take months of time and gallons of gas, so it’s a tall task indeed to try to experience it all. How lovely, then, that the Friends of the Walkway is gathering over 180 locally made sips, bites, and wares for its fourth annual Mayfest Farmers and Makers Market, which is set to take place along the Hudson Valley Rail Trail and west side Walkway Over the Hudson approach May 20-21 from 12 to 5 pm.

It's just $5 to gain entrance to the market on either day. General admission tickets include access to tastings of the best local food and beverage purveyors as well as a wealth of live music, specialty performances, art installations, games and activities for kids, and much more. (Kids under 12 get in free, as do Walkway members: There’s still time to join as a member and score a free pass to the entire Walkway season, including the half-dozen Walkway at Night events.)

Mayfest visitors over 21 can also sample the wares of over 25 top-notch producers of wine, beer, cider, and spirits, with tastings offered by renowned local makers like 1857 Spirits, Hudson Whiskey, City Winery, Black Button Distillery, Brooklyn Ciders, Sloop Brewing, Nine Pin Cider, Freefall Sangria and more, along with bottles available for sale. Some of the region’s top food trucks and culinary names will also be serving up their finest—from barbecue to knishes to artisanal ice cream.

There’s tons of fun to be had for kids too. They can meet furry friends from local organizations such as Parrots For Peace, the Dutchess SPCA, or Wayward Farm Family Sanctuary. And there’ll be activities galore from Crazy For Art, Music For Humanity, the Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum, and the YMCA, plus photo ops with superheroes and princesses throughout both days. Dogs on leases are also welcome to join the party, and may enjoy the newly expanded selection of pet products, including tasty treats and the coolest fashions.

And in case that’s not enough, there will be plenty of entertainment to enjoy on both days, with local bands playing everything from rock to hip-hop to old-school favorites; pop-up dance shows; and a special Hudson Valley Sustainable Fashion Show.

The Mayfest Farmers and Makers Market, sponsored by Romeo Auto Group, MGI International, Brothers that just do Gutters, and Alphawin, will take place May 20-21 from 12 to 5 pm. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit walkway.org/mayfest.
