On June 18 and 19, the Poughkeepsie Open Studios art walk event will return to the Dutchess County city, allowing local artists the chance to show their work—and attendees the chance to enjoy it while meeting the makers and each other.
Launched in 2015, Poughkeepsie Open Studios is renowned as a free event that lets art enthusiasts personally interact with many of the exemplary artists who work and live in the Poughkeepsie area. Visitors to the self-guided tour are able to visit artist studios, galleries, arts organizations, temporary pop-up spaces, and other related venues to experience the creative processes, inspirations, and techniques of the participating artists. At the same time, event goers are able to get a taste of the rich history and broad cultural diversity of the Poughkeepsie community and the beauty of the region. In addition to visual art, the two-day happening promises live performances and other activities.
Featured artists this year (with more being added) include Alvin Chiappolini, Anita Kiewra, Art Jones, the Artists’ Collective of Hyde Park, Barbara Todd, Bipesh Korala, Imani Jones, Joel Brown, Emmanuel Ofori, Liz O’Raffity and the Wise Owls Factory, Matthew Blot, Nikki Hung, Penny Dell, and many others.
Poughkeepsie Open Studios will take place throughout Poughkeepsie on June 18 and 19 from 1 to 5pm. See the website for a full list of artists, participating locations, and more information.
