“The Listening Room” Music Series in Tivoli | Music | Hudson Valley | Chronogram Magazine
Kaatsbaan Cultural Park will bring back its intimate music salon series “The Listening Room” on May 12 with a concert by Mick Lynch with special guest Mary Stuart Masterson.

Created by Lynch and his wife, music photographer Deborah Lopez, “The Listening Room” is returning after a long hiatus and promises a unique and enjoyable live music experience in a personal, device-free setting.

Dublin-born singer-songwriter Lynch is a cofounding member of the Irish band the Guggenheim Grotto, whose 2006 debut album Waltzing Alone enjoyed much critical acclaim. The group toured and performances with artists such as They Might Be Giants, Ani DiFranco, the Waterboys, Patti Griffin, and Damien Rice, and their follow-up albums, Happy the Man (2008) and The Universe is Laughing (2010), placed at number one in the iTunes Folk Charts. For the event, Lynch will perform new songs like “Lawrence of Arabia,” “Treading Water,” and “Cold Old River,” the latter featuring guest Mary Stuart Masterson.

Here's a video for the Guggenheim Grotto’s “Philosophia,” which was such a favorite of Steve Jobs that he featured the song as an iTunes single of the week and ensured the song was placed on all the store models of the original iPhone:

“The Listening Room” featuring Mick Lynch with special guest Mary Stuart Masterson will take place at Kaatsbaan Cultural Park in Tivoli on May 12 at 7pm (doors at 6pm). Tickets are $25.
