L t R: The Pairs, Basset
Sweet harmonies will fill the crisp night air in Woodstock when award-winning Canadian folk groups the Pairs and Basset come to Colony on November 17.

Hailing from London, Ontario, the Pairs are an acoustic family band comprised of three classically trained vocalists and an erstwhile punk rock drummer. So far, the act has released the album Noise and a self-titled EP. Listening to their stuff online, I’m inclined to say they’d be square in the wheelhouses of fans of the Roches, Mountain Man, or own region’s Upstate nee Upstate Rubdown.

Based in Toronto, Basset is the duo of Sam Clark and Yasmine Shelton, whose debut album, In the Clay, was released last September. The twosome’s acoustic sound has been compared favorably to the Milk Carton Kids, Bon Iver, and Hozier.

The Pairs and Basset will perform at Colony in Woodstock on November 17 at 7pm. Tickets are $14.37.
