Poughkeepsie Day works with students and families to help establish fundamental patterns of sleep, nutrition, fitness, and emotional wellness. Each PDS student is offered a range of options everyday at lunch time and taught about the relationship between getting enough sleep and safety, alertness, mood, behavior and ability to learn.
Poughkeepsie Day School has a more than 70-year legacy of getting students out into the world to learn from the local industry and engage with the community. These days, Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten regularly visit nearby Sprout Creek Farm as part of class programming.
Poughkeepsie Day School serves 250 students in the Hudson Valley region, from Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12. The school was founded in 1934, by a group of parents with close ties to Vassar College and committed to progressive education.
